Hi! My name is Suzanne, and I'm the "Sue" in Beauty By Sue. I've been a makeup artist in the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia area since moving here in 2008, and I love just about everything bridal. I swear my husband is probably tired of hearing me gush about the gorgeous details I see at every wedding and bridal styled shoot I do. So much so that I'm pretty sure he mostly tunes me out when I start rattling on about how I want to do a "vow renewal" every other year with whatever new trend I see. Instead I get to live vicariously through my brides and the amazing minds of the wedding planners I work with on shoots, reliving my own wedding day over and over happily in my head.
I started my career out selling makeup behind the Prescriptives counter at Dillards many many moons ago, and that has morphed into a full time career as an esthetician, then makeup artist, plus running a full team of hair and makeup artists, then going back to school for cosmetology, and now into this interesting hybrid of all of those careers that is "Beauty By Sue". I have a home based salon in Woodbridge, VA where during the week I transform womens' hair into every shade under the sun, relax and pamper them with luxurious facials that smell good enough to eat, and spray tan them into the perfect shade the healthier way than tanning in the sun or a tanning bed. On most weekends April through November, I'm all yours- working to enhance brides and their bridal parties into the very best versions of themselves to they can walk down the aisle confident and radiant and picture-perfect.
When I'm not dedicating myself to my clients, I have an endlessly patient husband of over 14 years and two sons that have enough activities to fill up every blank space on my calendar left. I used to hate the color pink, and now I legit squeal when I see blush or rose gold anything. And if it has glitter, well, it's just got to be mine. My hair has been every shade under the sun except true blue or platinum, and I can tell you exactly when each photo of me was taken by the color of my locks. I believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but a bit of concealer and some mascara never hurt nobody. I can talk your ear off endlessly about Hawaii, Scotland and all things Outlander, and most things Disney. I consider myself a hopeless romantic, and if I'm being honest with myself, I probably talk too much for my own good. But if you have a question about beauty, especially the science behind it, that translates to an encyclopedia of information in this brain of mine I'd love to share with you.
But enough about me. What I really want is to hear more about YOU! Your vision for your wedding day beauty and how I can help you achieve that. So please take your time and look around, and if you like what you see make sure to Request My Availability For Your Wedding Date!
